A crossroads weekend for San Diego State-trying to save their season.

A troubled program, coming off a grind of a win over Fresno State, needs to do the same this weekend at Colorado State.

The loss of QB-Jayden Denegal may be offset with the emergence of new QB-Stone Saunders decent performance off the bench against the Bulldogs.

The return to health of RB-Lucky Sutton made a big difference.

Special teams saved the day for Sean Lewis, the 4-field goals, the big returns on kicks.

And the arrival of young Jaylin Hawkins as a wideout means there is plenty to build on.

Jim Mora brought great enthusiasm taking over at Colorado State, but the ex-NFL coach inherited a depleted roster, a bad defense, and things have gotten bad in Ft Collins, so much so they gave up (716-yards) last week in a bad loss to Texas State.  And he had already fired his defensive coordinator.

The Aztecs could put a run together with a win at CSU, followed by home games with Washington State and Utah State.
