The world has changed.

Conference realignments.  The death of the Pac 12.  Players Rights.  NIL payments.  Boosters.  The Transfer Portal.  Free Agency.  Player Agents.  Tampering.  The College Football Playoffs…and Players in pro camps getting injunctions to leave and return to college after having been paid by NFL teams.

The headline makers these days are people doing things for the wrong reason, headlined by Lane Kiffin, Deion Sanders and more.

There are still great games to see, Ohio State-vs-Texas to start the season.  But half the teams in the major conferences cannot keep up.  Good Luck to the Group of 6-who lose out everyday on players, on money, on playoff hopes.

This is no continuity, no loyalty, ohly a chase for big money.

So we await the vote on the ‘Save the College Sports Act’, we think next month in Congress.  It gives the NCAA a critical ‘Anti-Trust Exemption’ that allows them to control every facet of college sports.

The rules, the regularations, the finances, the distribution of money, the NIL operation, boosters, third party payments, the Transfer Portal and so much more.

It ends Conference raids.  It ends power brokers doing selfish TV deals at the cost of virtually all the other conferences.

King College Football cannot get here quick enough,  this the Year of the Quarterback and the many great matchups.  It cannot get here quick enough to bring back stability to a sport that is out of control and appears corrupt.

It won’t bring back to life the once beloved Pac 12.  It won’t repair the damage people like Lane Kiffin stand for.  It won’t erase what the record book has become with QBs going to the highest bidder and playing for four schools in four years.

It will end the lawsuits, the injunctions, the local judges over-ruling NCAA bylaws.  Every rule change was followed by an injunction somewhere.  And the Big 10-SEC, who have been all about themselves on rules, took action to ban players who try to exit NFL camps and return to college camps.

The only purity in the game might be an Ivy League game (Harvard-Yale) or the Division III playoffs, or your favorite Friday night high school football game.

The games have been great.  The evolution of the players rights era has been so destructive.

Better days have to come, and come quickly, to save college sports.
