“RAIDERS-CHARGERS…MIGHT BE PRESEASON..BUT NOT GOOD”

What did you watch on TV last night?

Me, the Raiders, the Chargers, and it really wasn’t much to see.

CHARGERS..What a poor performance from Jim Harbaugh’s offense.  The Niners mugged them in the first half.  The Bolts self destructed on offense.  Lots of penalties, wiping out chunk plays.  The defense gave up big yardage plays, had virtually no pass rush, and got gashed by a few big runs.

The Bolts, who were so efficient on the road last week in Houston, played really poorly.  At one point the RBs had a combined 8-carries for 5-yards.  No run blocking at all.  Alot of mistakes with 4-flags that negated big plays of 11-18-21 yards.

A (1-for-8) start on third downs.  Only 3-first downs in the opening half.  Outgained 208-128 by halftime.

And the Bolts gave up a 37-yard run that set up a TD, gave up 4-receptions to one rangy rookie, and got smoked for an 84Y-Punt Return TD.

Not very good around QB-Trey Lance.  And they got out-toughed by a Niners team for much of the night.

And alot of Niners fans wearing red and alot of empty seats at a Chargers home game.

RAIDERS…What a rocky start for QB-Fernando Mendoza.  Bad throws, overthrows, hits, sacks, and an 80-yard pick six put his team in a 17-0 hole.  But the first round pick rallied some in the second quarter and finished (8-15)-86Y.  But the reality, this is not a good offensive line because he had people in his face, hanging onto him, and knocking him down.

And the first half defense was awful, getting body slammed by the Texans run game.

The second half was a different affair.  3rd year veteran QB-Aidan O’Connell lit up the Texans backups, throwing for (166Y) and leading two scoring drives.

When they were done the Raiders had a (400-219Y) edge in offense.  A feel good win.  But the questions remain the same.  A really porous offensive front and a poor defense upfront and in the back end, involving alot of young players.

A side question, how surprised are you at how poorly Houston has played in preseason, now (0-2).

Things to watch the rest of the weekend.

CLEVELAND…Shedeur Sanders starts against Buffalo, his chance to lay claim to the starting job.

ARIZONA…Last year’s (1-11) starter Jacoby Brissett goes against the Cowboys rebuilt defense.

EAGLES..The new offense of Sean Mannion, threw for just (83Y) last weekend.  Now they face the Patriots.

STEELERS…Interesting story is the battle for the backup QB job.  Will Howard and career vet Mason Rudolph play this weekend vs the Jets.

COLTS…Can Anthony Richardson do this weekend what he did last weekend as he tries to solidify a roster spot?

VIKINGS…JJ McCarthy plays but the young QB has been pushed back to 3rd on the depth chart.  stay tuned for that story.

RAMS..Tyler Simpson, coming off a (21-25) passing game, starts again vs the Saints.

TITANS..That was awful last weekend, the play of both Cam Ward and Wil Levis.  Now they play Seattle.

Watch it, enjoy it, see what the rest of this weekend brings.
