“COLLEGE FOOTBALL-GREAT GAMES-BAD PEOPLE LOTS OF PLACES”

College Football is king in lots of places, especially in the Deep South and the Midwest.

College Football has lots of problems right now, beyond the Transfer Portal and NIL money and Big Cigar Boosters and Tampering.

I shake my head everytime I think of a big college football story at this hour.

It’s about bad news, something sleazy, some coach somewhere doing something, borderline unethical.

Connect the dots if you will:

NORTH CAROLINA…It just never ends with ‘Chapel Hill Bill’, the Belichick era-aura in Tar Heels Country.  Last year at this time it was the ‘Hoodie and his Hot Pants-Girlfriend’.  Then the tainted CBS interviews.  Then the blowout opening day TCU loss enroute to a (4-9) debut season.  The roster erosion.  The nasty national stories.  The failed recruiting.  The disastrous transfer portal experience.  And now this week, the removal of his GM-Mike Lonmbardi, who has drawn enormous fire for alot of underhanded stuff in just over a year on the job.

LSU…Does it feel greasy to be around all things Lane Kiffin?  How he handled his exit from Ole Miss?  The QB-Trinidad Chambliss affair?  The massive payday to go to Baton Rouge?  The tampering allegations?  His public stance of racial issues back in Mississippi?  All that on top of all the other places he has been at, failed at, succeeded at, got fired at, and wreckage left behind.

MICHIGAN..Wonder what the term ‘Michigan Man’ should mean now in the aftermath of the Sharronne Moore sex scandal with an assistant staff member.  The firing, the lawsuits, the coverup allegation, and the now-removal of longtime AD-Warde Manuel.  All this following the  barrage of sanctions from the Jim Harbaugh  era.  You know ‘Spygate’, Computer hacking.  Covid recruiting violations.  End results (30M) in fines, firings, and guys running from the law.  Hail to the Victors?

LSU II…Less said the better about Carpetbagger Brian Kelly, ousted after failing, not caring, and yet walking away with loads of buyout money to leave the Tigers.  Nice erosion of your coaching credibility.  Enjoy him doing college analyst work on TV in a Group of 6-games.

COLORADO..All the glitter seems gone.  The crowds have disappeared.  All the catch phrases, the excitement, the marquee things about the Buffalos seemed to exit when Sheduer Sanders and Travis Hunter exited Boulder.  Coach Prime, Deion, is still there, but his reputation has taken a hit.  Players saying they were never prepared properly.  Too much of a party atmosphere with Neon Deion’s friends and their bling hanging around all the time.  Lousy leadership from assistant coaches, many of Sanders’ NFL friends.  Just not the same feel anymore.  Yeah (3-9) will do that to the party atmosphere.

UCLA…Hard to believe such a bad mistake could be made in the DeSean Foster hiring.  An awful outcome for a money troubled program that needed leadership.  He hasn’t found a job going forward, and why would you. His treatment of people, his inability to coach and lead, cannot hide that on a resume.   Hopefully small college guru Bob Chesney will hit the jackpot big time at the Rose Bowl.

There were 27-Division 1-coaching changes at the end of the season.  You think about all these hirings and firings, college football felt like slime ball football to me.
